Getting Started
How does Itemwell work?
Itemwell is a peer-to-peer platform where community members can list items they own and rent items from their neighbors. You can browse available items, send rental requests, and earn credits by renting out your own belongings.
How do I sign up?
Simply click "Sign Up" and provide your name, email, password, and zip code. You'll receive welcome credits to get started!
Is there a fee to use Itemwell?
Creating an account and browsing items is completely free. Users negotiate rental prices directly with each other.
Renting Items
How do I rent an item?
Browse available items, click on one you're interested in, and send a rental request with your desired dates and a message. The owner will respond to your request.
What payment methods are accepted?
Payment arrangements are made directly between users. You can pay with cash, credit card, or use Itemwell credits. The platform does not process payments.
What if an item gets damaged?
Users should discuss damage policies and deposits before renting. Itemwell does not provide insurance or handle damage disputes - these are handled between users.
Listing Items
What items can I list?
You can list most personal items like electronics, tools, sports equipment, musical instruments, and more. Illegal items or those against our guidelines are not permitted.
How do I set a rental price?
You set your own daily rental price. Research similar items in your area to find competitive pricing.
Do I have to accept every rental request?
No, you can accept or decline rental requests based on your availability and comfort level with the renter.
Credits & Rewards
What are Itemwell credits?
Credits are our internal currency system that makes trading feel more like exchanging favors. You earn credits by renting out items and can use them to rent from others.
How do I earn credits?
You earn credits by: listing items (initial bonus), renting out your items to others, and referring new users to the platform.
Can I convert credits to money?
Currently, credits are internal to the platform to encourage community sharing. Users determine the value of credits in their transactions.
Safety & Trust
How do I know if someone is trustworthy?
Check user ratings and reviews from previous transactions. Start with smaller items to build trust, and always meet in safe, public locations when possible.
What if I have a dispute with another user?
Try to resolve disputes directly with the other user first. If unsuccessful, you can report the issue, but users are responsible for their own transactions.
Can I block or report users?
Yes, you can report users who violate community guidelines. Repeated violations may result in account suspension.
